This is our biggest and best Pick Your Motor yet. Two cars born from competition, developed with winning as the only objective, and revered ever since. One represents BMW at its most focused and uncompromising. The other changed performance engineering forever.

The BMW E46 M3 CSL needs little introduction. Already regarded as one of the greatest driver’s cars BMW has ever built, this example has been taken a step further by an owner who clearly understood what the CSL should be used for. Nearly £15,000 has been spent with Simpson Motorsport refining the car in all the right areas, focusing on performance, chassis balance, and outright scalpel-like precision. The naturally aspirated S54 remains the star of the show, breathing through its iconic visceral-sounding CSL carbon airbox and paired with a Motorsport 3.91 differential that completely transforms the drive. Extensive recent work, a finely-tuned suspension setup and a stripped-back, track-focused interior make this a CSL that’s ready to be driven and enjoyed as intended.

Lined up against it is the legendary Audi UR Quattro WR 10V, a car that didn’t just win rallies but rewrote the rulebook. This stunning example is exactly what collectors and enthusiasts hope to find for sale but rarely do. Finished in Alpine White with leather interior, just 85,000 miles and backed up by an exceptional history file including every MOT since 1988 and 28 service stamps, most of them from Audi main dealers. Crucially, it remains original and unspoilt. So clean it has even been displayed behind ropes inside an Audi main dealership. This is a Quattro preserved properly, and still every bit as evocative today as it was in period.
